3 Rules to Keep in Mind When Adopting a Video Content Marketing Strategy

With more traditional advertising strategies on the decline, more and more companies are turning to video content marketing as a way of getting brand names out there. Content marketing is said to be the way of the future for many companies, but video content is particularly appealing, acting as a more interactive and easily sharable medium. Like many other approaches to marketing, however, there are guidelines that should be considered before publishing this kind of work.

Be as original as possible. With this kind of approach to content marketing on the rise, more and more companies are bound to be putting out videos. The key to rising above the competition is to create original content that's inherently valuable to your viewers and consumers. When developing strategies regarding how to appeal to customers, you must always question why someone would want to take the time to engage with your brand's work. Focusing your videos on topical issues or providing advice, like many blogs do, is an innovative and interesting way to go about this.

Keep your customer in mind. As stated above, being original and creating content that stands on its own is incredibly important to this process, but balancing this aspect with content that resonates with your customer is just as critical. Obsess over both your customer and your brand's story and develop content that reflects the desires of both parties. Any content published that's interesting but not necessarily flattering or related to your brand is potentially damaging, and not nearly as valuable as work that avoids this risk.

Promote video content with vigor. After putting the time and effort into developing video content, it's critical that your brand play an active role in ensuring that consumers end up seeing it. This is yet another reason why companies should take social media seriously, as it can act as a powerful tool when it comes to dispersing original content. Ensure that you enable said videos for sharing, and post them onto sites like YouTube which attract a great deal of views and offer a better search engine opportunities.
