3 Important Changes to Make to Your Company's Social Media Training

Courtney Scharf
January 22nd, 2013
With new platforms constantly on the rise, companies should update their social media training regularly. Brands who have mastered social media take this to the next level, prioritizing it as part of every employee's role. Here are some changes your company can make in order to ramp up engagement on these sites.

Get everyone involved.Companies who take social media seriously don't leave the responsibility to a specific team. Training all employees on social media will ensure that even more people are engaging with your brand on these sites, and allows for greater understanding of a brand's role across the board. Doing so sets your employees up for success in terms of remaining up to date on today's business practices, and will encourage those who lie outside of a social media department to contribute valuable ideas that may otherwise go unheard.

Include less popular social media sites. Many companies are hesitant to take the time to break down the details of newer platforms like Google+, but stalling until these sites become popular is a huge mistake. It's hard to predict the way in which social media will change in the future, and any platform that suits a company's goals and shows promise should be taken into consideration in terms of both training and strategizing.

Train employees to use niche social media tools. It's one thing to train employees to use Facebook, Twitter and other platforms in a basic way. Introducing them and encouraging them to make use of tools like Pingraphy and HootSuite, however, will go a long way in terms of improving the efficiency of the way in which your employees make use of these services. Social media is an incredibly time-sensitive aspect of business, and adopting the help of tools like this can ramp up productivity in a powerful way.

Social media has become a mainstay in terms of today's business world, and social media training needs to be updated as often as the platforms themselves. Trend Hunter's Social Media Trend Report is a fantastic read for anyone looking to stay on the cutting edge of this sphere.
