Specific hiring strategies for companies can vary depending on industry and position, but businesses that follow the guidelines laid out below have more chance of creating an award-winning team than those who sit back and let job postings do all the work. Today, traditional job postings only account for 20% of the work actually available, so how can companies do more to target the applicants they want?

Don't be complacent. Even though a company is running smoothly, never eliminate the possibility of new hires and new positions. CEO Alan Martin spoke on Forbes about the value of this approach, stating how "new blood can add an unexpected spark to humming operations." This new spark may be all that's needed to inspire other workers to push themselves like never before.

Never sacrifice quality. Some companies can become desperate to fill a spot, and as a result skip over certain much-needed qualities in candidates. This can result in longterm difficulties such as lack of employee retention and the overall fit of an individual. Hiring the best should always be at the forefront of your mind when scheduling interviews.

Use Social media. More companies these days are understanding the benefits of social media for maintaining brand image, but what about using these sites for recruitment? LinkedIn is one professionally based networking site that can be employed when finding new talent, but also Facebook and Twitter. If you are unsure about a potential hire, checking out their Twitter feed to understand their general interests can give hiring teams more insight to a person's background, and general fit for a company.
