Many companies are on board with being active on social media sites like Facebook, which are excellent sources of referral traffic, but Vine and Instagram are both excellent platforms for content building.

Though unlikely to drive traffic to your site, at least directly, these kind of social media networks can be a rich and creative way to build a brand and connect with consumers. Here's how you can make the most of such sites.

Share your office story. Both Vine and Instagram give companies a chance to let the outside world into office culture without being too focused on promotion. In many ways, these platforms offer a way for a company to show its personality. Approach these platforms as a way for fans to get a behind-the-scenes look and you offer consumers an incentive to engage with your brand online.

Preview upcoming promotions and exclusives. Another way to draw consumers to this content is to promote and debut teases to upcoming products, events and campaigns using these platforms. This not only acts as an approach to encourage people to follow said accounts, but also helps spread the word about company happenings.

Engage with consumers. Aside from being a great source of content building, Instagram and Vine act as a great way for brands to get in touch with consumers. Hosting branded contest is one of the most powerful ways to engage with followers, and can act as a marketing campaign in and of itself.
